NonStop Manageability: Part -1
Kamala SreenivasanTraditionally, NonStop Products on Guardian OS had the best-in-class manageability features, with each product having subsystem plugins for SCF, Measure, etc. As NonStop started supporting open-source software, there has been a proliferation of manageability functions and interfaces, as each open-source software comes with its own manageability functions and interfaces. Today there is a bouquet of products offered under NonStop Manageability.

Journey to Virtualization: A Day in the life of a software developer
Shiva SubramanianI’d like to take you on my journey to NonStop Virtualization. It was not accomplished in a day, I must confess. It was more like a month in the life of a software developer. But time flies by when you’re doing something you love. As a developer, I was always aware of how small a cog I am in the giant spinning wheel of IT. Just like a system administrator, a network engineer, a tester or a project manager. I’ve always been intrigued to find out what laid on the other side of the grass, so I ventured to find out.

Karen CopelandFor anyone who has ever ventured into the surf rolling onto a beach, the presence of waves as they fade on the sand is obvious. They just come at you one wave after the other, or so it seems. But avid surfers know that these waves typically come ashore in sets with the first wave foreshadowing much more impressive waves yet to come.

Data is the Lifeblood of your Organization
Thomas GloerfeldData is pretty crucial to any business these days. Many people claim that data is the most important asset you can possess, with more utility than capital assets and more meaningful (though often latent) insights than a host of human capital. Data reflects your entire business: your intellectual property, your industry, the broader market trends, the pain points and needs of prospective customers, and your existing customer base.

XYPRO Cybersecurity Predictions for 2022
Steve TcherchianWell, we made it. 2021 is finally in the books. The gift of LOG4J and the onslaught of vendor emails made for an eventful end to 2021. Take a minute (and I only mean a minute) to catch your breath before we jump headfirst into 2022. It’s time to look forward to what the cybersecurity landscape will give us this year.

Securing The Future Of NonStop
Henry FonsecaIt’s hard to believe that 2021 is almost over. Most of us are still getting used to our post-pandemic lives. And as life slowly returns to normal, we should take a moment to reflect on the challenges and successes of the past year. The end of the year is always a great opportunity to look ahead and set goals for the future. And I am not just talking about those pesky New Year’s resolutions that we quickly forget once February comes along.

Virtualized NonStop adoption is growing. Here’s what you should know if you’re planning for one
Prashanth Kamath USince the origin of computing, innovation has been happening in broadly two areas – 1) Technology – silicon, circuits, storage and so forth, aptly captured by “Moore’s law”, and 2) software – operating system, application, virtualization and the like. While these two areas continue to evolve, although at a slower pace than earlier, the last decade brought in another dimension to the innovation phenomenon –acquisition and consumption. Until the first decade of the 21st century, computing infrastructure was all captive. Companies built sprawling datacenters to house their IT infrastructure, managed by their staff – highly skilled to run operations and keep the “lights on”, if you will.

Virtualization; a world without limits now embraced by NonStop!
Richard BuckleVirtualization, and the support of virtual operating systems, has been a part of IT for a very long time. The concepts are pretty simple; I/O has been much slower than main memory so actions taken by the processor have happened more quickly than actions directed at storage. This resulted in a lot of processor wait time and processor time was viewed as expensive; what could we do while we waited? Initially this lead to the creation of a number of partitions all sharing virtual storage (VS) so much so that it wasn’t unusual to find large systems running five, seven, twelve and more partitions that, in the case of IBM mainframes, broke processing down into online and batch.

Modern Databases – Navigating through choice
Iain Liston-BrownFor application developers and architects then the development landscape is more complex and pressured today than ever before. On premise, off premise, public cloud, private cloud, agility, DevOps all add pressure to decisions whilst none take away the need to bring solutions to market quickly and, of course, minimise costs.
