The 2022 NonStop Technical Boot Camp marked the return to an in-person event, and it did not disappoint.

The 2022 NonStop Technical Boot Camp was held “live” at the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame, California. It was very nice to see people face to face and shake hands after the past two years. Even though I caught a cold, it was well worth it.

In February 1984, just a few weeks after the Apple Macintosh launch, I packed my bags, gave family and friends a big hug, and headed off to Silicon Valley to seek ‘fame and fortune.’ Fast-forward nearly 40 years, and though ‘fame and fortune’ were illusive, my eight years working with NonStop, at Tandem Computers during part of its heyday, affected me profoundly in a number of ways.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect for my first participation in NonStop TBC. The event was the first in-person TBC since 2019 and my first in-person conference in nearly 5 years. But I was excited for several reasons.

After a three-year long hiatus, the TBC reemerged on November 8-10 at the Hyatt Regency SFO in downtown Burlingame, California. The event was the first in-person opportunity in a long time for many attendees; there were also quite a few first-time attendees. Both are very encouraging developments. It seems that the world is slowly starting to open up and folks are getting more comfortable traveling. Gradually, things are resetting “back to normal” after the pandemic.

We had a wonderful time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones IN PERSON at the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame, California.  Here are the highlights.

With his opening words, “It’s not where we are headed but how fast we will get there,” the boss of all things NonStop, Jeff Kyle, set the tone for the latest NonStop Technical Boot Camp (NonStop TBC 22). “We are a platform and not a server; the platform we are perfecting for mission critical applications. We create the data and we transact the data!”

As we approach the holiday season and start decking the halls, we at NuWave, like many of you, like to reflect on the past twelve months. 2022 has been a bittersweet year for us. Looking back, there were so very many highlights and a lot to be proud of. However, there were also some sad times, including the loss of our founder and co-owner, Ernie Guerrera, as well as Karen Copeland, a guiding light in the HPE NonStop space.
