What a year for NonStop!

Dear NonStop community,

While we’re heading to have a historical NonStop TBC event to celebrate 50 years of NonStop (more on this later in this article), I believe we can also use the same superlative for the HPE Discover 2024 event that will go into the records as one of the best, and not just for HPE but also for NonStop. If you did not have a chance to participate, it was about a month ago in Las Vegas, and both HPE and NonStop had set their focus on artificial intelligence and how to bring the potential benefits of this technology to our customers. So how did it go?

The first remarkable number was the attendance at the event; over 14,000 participants, including customers, partners, and HPE employees, were unafraid to travel to Nevada despite the 105 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) already reached on that first day of Summer. However, what probably raised excitement amongst attendees was being part of the first corporate keynote at Sphere, which highlighted HPE’s intent to make a bold announcement to the industry. And as the keynote was delivered, the participation of Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, announcing HPE Private Cloud AI with Antonio Neri, as well as the creative use of AI to take advantage of the Sphere 4D, immersive video and sound capabilities, did not disappoint, and they did set the tone for an historical event indeed.

The excitement went on throughout the show, with the Antonio Nearly avatar – or digital twin -, with NonStop, making a significant contribution, such as bringing an Ineos Grenadier car on the 7 acres show floor in the AI neighborhood, thanks to the abat team and where about a thousand visitors stopped as part of the showcase tour. In fact, the joint HPE and abat Smart Manufacturing solution was highlighted in the top 6 AI solutions in the arc as you entered the showcase.

This was not the only solution that HPE decided to showcase as best AI technology, as our NonStop product management team was able to demo “AI for fraud detection & ransomware prevention with HPE NonStop software”, also highlighted on the tour.  And more! Our North America sales team celebrated our NonStop 50 years with some old Tandem artifacts such as the control panel of the NonStop 1, the “NonStop SYSTEMS software pocket reference” manual, the “Mackie diagram” or how to explain NonStop to customers in simple terms: Independent nodes, nothing shared, replicated fabric and double access to storage and network (still the same today by the way!).  Finally, Connect hosts Tech Forums with presentations from our NonStop partners, Idelji, Xypro, Gravic, ETI-NET, and more, tackling the most challenging issues with great solutions.  Personally, I felt a sense of pride for HPE and NonStop, and that felt good! OK, and one final goodie for you, dearest gentle reader: try to find one of our NonStop rock stars in this HPE Discover 2024 Top Moments video!  Overall, it may be the best visibility NonStop ever had at Discover, thanks to all who worked on preparing and participating in this event.

Now, switching gears, let’s prepare for another great event for this year: the NonStop TBC24 event, which will happen in Monterey, California, from September 23 to 26, 2024. This is a new venue for 2024, and the event will include the celebration of our 50^th Golden Anniversary at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 60+ technical breakout sessions, keynotes, and MORE! The venue for the event is the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course.

Start making your plans, register, and share the news with your colleagues, customers, and partners. Some key attractions include the Tandem Museum experience and the unveiling of the latest NonStop product strategy and roadmap, among others. Your call to action is:
