The NonStop community is very well-versed in what it takes to deliver applications that never stop. For half a century and counting, NonStop systems have been deployed in support of mission-critical applications and have performed to spec – no downtime, planned or otherwise, occurs. Maintenance happens “online” without disruptions to the application. Single system deployments have become a rarity in most market segments as we see secondary and tertiary systems deployed to ensure disaster resilience – no downtime, even if disasters, natural or otherwise, occur.
In today’s Hybrid IT environments, the focus is on ensuring applications remain available no matter the source of their data. In this highly dependent-on-data world, NonStop is a dependable participant, where it is the source of the freshest, cleanest, and most secure data. NonStop systems, building on their continuous, almost permanent availability, need to communicate. NonStop needs to integrate with modern communications and streaming platforms that are relied upon to deliver the data created on NonStop.
Keeping NonStop up and running 24/7 is now just part of the story, as the need to leverage this attribute to better support enterprises’ ability to meet their customer needs has become paramount. In keeping with this focus on availability and data, NTI is launching its updated profile, which is now NTI: Your Data Company. Your Journey to Discovery is facilitated through the deployment of DRNet®.
There will be many NonStop conferences and events in 2025, with the major gatherings of the NonStop community anticipated for the E-BITUG in Dublin this June and for the renamed NonStop Technology and Business Conference in Houston later in the year. Participants will find a fresh take on the customers’ needs for data to be available everywhere. For the NonStop customers in particular, this is the case of opening access to your data via modern and open protocols and services. Any lingering thoughts about running your NonStop applications in isolation have long been overturned to where everything happens on the Internet. Even with the challenges to security that this represents, the presence of IP networks has become ubiquitous.
Central to this fresh take by NTI marketing is the key, though data replication isn’t the end game but rather just the starting line. Mastering replication, as NTI has done for a very long time using proven Change Data Capture methodologies that it pioneered, has positioned NTI as the ideal partner to distribute and integrate data. With DRNet® / Kafka, powered by uLinga from Infrasoft, further enhanced to support bidirectional data streaming, the support of a “round trip” exchange, NonStop customers can participate in one of the world’s largest, open, and fastest foundation for data movement, as is provided by Apache Kafka.
No longer constrained by just one-way journeys but able now to process responses created by adjacent applications that, in turn, support the Kafka data streaming platform. Able to accept the output of analytic processes or even the results from AI LLMs, a whole new take on fast-turnaround alerting is possible. What might have taken hours to determine in the past can now be integrated into operational mission-critical applications.
The thought of a journey may be overused in some markets, but for the NonStop customers, its relevance should not be ignored. With every NonStop tech refresh, it’s proven to be just a further waypoint on the continuous journey that has been a hallmark of NonStop systems since their introduction. NTI recognizes this journey and, as such, is introducing a new program called the 2% Club. In marketing terms, it is recognized that at any point in a product lifecycle, customers seek alternatives.
You may be among the NonStop customers concerned about the vendor you have engaged with for data replication. Perhaps your chosen vendor remains antagonistic towards the NonStop platform proving slow to respond to service requests. Perhaps your preferred vendor is focused more on the past and continues to update features that are no longer relevant for most NonStop customers. It matters little when it comes to joining the 2% Club with NTI.
This new 2% Club is for NonStop customers who find their current replication deployments unsatisfying. NTI customers already deploying products from the DRNet® product portfolio automatically become members, but with the upcoming events, membership is being thrown open to all NonStop community members contemplating alternate offerings.
To make this program easy to understand and enticing to join, imagine looking up at an airport’s departure board to see your data destination covered by NTI. Equally as important is knowing the origin of your flight; for NTI, it matters little whether your journey originates in other HPE NonStop products or from other vendors; NTI has you covered. NTI has the experience to connect you with the right flight and to ensure you make it to the correct departure gate on time.
Why 2%? Suggesting a 1% Club looks elitist while 10% looks common, but 2%? It is something special. Just as United has their 1K Frequent Flyer Program, where 1K happens to represent 100,000 (miles) flown, so too is the NTI 2% Club catering to a much larger number; the number of NTI customers continues to grow, so planning any limits on membership is not the goal. Rather, it’s more in line with United’s 1K in that you simply deploy DRNet®, and you become a member.
Do you have your boarding pass? Do you know your destination? To further facilitate your journey to your destination, NTI is building a “technology travel agency.” NTI views communications, data movement through replication, and access to streaming platforms capable of processing the amount of data created on NonStop as instrumental to the long-term presence of NonStop within the modern enterprise. It is always helpful, though, to seek out those who know how best to plan your journey.
DRNet® / Kafka may be generating all the buzz right now, but there are many intermediary stops along the way, including just migrating off a legacy solution onto modern DRNet® for a better approach to replication in support of Disaster Recovery. To learn about this program and much more, you will just have to show up at one or more of the major conferences and events this year. Your destination, your boarding pass, and, yes, your passport will all be at hand and simply obtainable whenever you drop by the NTI travel desk.
Of course, if you cannot attend these events, you can always talk to us and request your membership in the 2% club!
But for now, Bon Voyage!
