In today’s fast-paced business environment, making informed decisions quickly is crucial. Transactional systems, like HPE NonStop, are known for being ideal for mission-critical applications, meeting, and exceeding customer expectations for 50 years,  today we continue to make sure our NonStop customers have what they need to thrive implementing their data-driven decision-making strategy while also getting prepared to the era of AI with NonStop data

Data plays a crucial role in decision-making by providing objective, evidence-based insights that guide actions and strategies.

NonStop continues to be the system of choice for mission-critical, with 100% availability, data integrity even in the event of hardware or software failures, high-speed data processing, failover capabilities,  always available, scalable, robust security, and an array of amazing modern tools to meet the different organization’s data needs. Organizations need options to implement unique use cases, different industries have different regulations, each facing their own data governance rules that drives how the solutions are implemented.

That is where NonStop comes with a great variety of modern tools that are used for assisting in managing the NonStop environment, performance Monitoring, DevOps, and Security/Compliance.

There is another set of tools for data management, replication solutions, some even allowing analysis and transformations that are AI-assisted even in transit, allowing them to connect to a variety of environments.

Operations solutions like:

Idelji provides analytics solutions for operations management, smart performance analytics, and AI-assisted analysis for enterprises and DevOps, we learned the features from Vito at TBC.

MOMI Management and Operations Monitoring Interface by BlackWood Systems, Inc. It provides real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting making it easier to manage and maintain NonStop systems. example of operational data analysis for decision-making, we also watch Kathy Wood demonstrating it to customers at TBC.

For Security and Compliance, Xypro, Steve Tcherchian Chief Product Officer presented to the customers at TBC how Xypro solutions can provide live data in the security suite.

There is Qualys, a cloud-based security and compliance platform, NonStop logs can be uploaded to help identify vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in highly regulated industries.

With data being the center of data analysis, we cannot talk about data analysis without talking about the replication of databases, and data movement, historically database replication has been used to ensure high availability and data integrity for the NonStop environments. The same process is used for the data movement needs for the data analysis environments.

During TBC we were able to hear from Paden Holenstein, Product Manager from Gravic, HPE Shadowbase, how modernizing data replication processes can offer opportunities for increased efficiency and scalability. By replicating data across multiple servers or locations, organizations can ensure that their data is always accessible and up to date, a key element for business intelligence and data analysis environments.

Splunk is an observability tool for searching, monitoring, and analyzing data. It can be used to visualize logs and metrics from HPE NonStop systems and other analysis needs.

HPE Shadowbase is a robust solution for real-time data replication, integration, and disaster recovery. Shadowbase supports nonstop data movement between NonStop systems and other platforms, ensuring data consistency across NonStop and other environments like SQL servers where data can be analyzed.

There are other data integration and replication options like:

GoldenGate integrates seamlessly with HPE NonStop for real-time data replication and distribution. It’s widely used for synchronizing data between heterogeneous systems.

NonStop SQL and JDBC/ODBC Connectivity, can use JDBC/ODBC drivers to connect NonStop SQL databases to other systems or applications, enabling real-time data access.

HPE NonStop OSS, Open System Services (OSS) provides an interface for Unix-like tools, allowing easier integration and data movement to Unix/Linux-based systems.

Custom APIs and Middleware, Many organizations develop APIs or use middleware solutions to transfer data from NonStop systems to other platforms in real time.

Other File Transfer Solutions are available with tools like FTP, SFTP, and HPE’s NonStop Batch Facility (NSB) for automated and secure file transfers.

There are also Business Intelligence, Analysis, and Visualization Options:

With a variety of business intelligence tools (BI) tools that allow organizations to gain deeper insights from their data. HPE NonStop technologies can be seamlessly integrated with various BI tools to enhance decision-making.

Power BI, which is a business analytics service by Microsoft that provides interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities. It can be easily integrated with HPE NonStop databases to create comprehensive reports and dashboards, either directly connecting to NonStop data or replicating NonStop data for analysis to other environments like fabric. We have worked with Gravic that has used Power BI for business intelligence and analytic projects.

Qlik is a business intelligence tool that offers data visualization and discovery capabilities. It can be used to create interactive dashboards and reports for HPE NonStop systems.

Striim is a tool that can help organizations move data from the NonStop Systems and can help with the ETL process using AI to transform data even in transit. Striim offers multiple connectors including SQL, Real-time data movement from HPE NonStop to other systems (e.g., cloud platforms like Azure or AWS).

HPE acquired Pachyderm which provides many other connectors along with other data solutions. That will enable the movement of data to where is needed especially to get ready for AI.

There are many modern tools and options for NonStop to support the evolving data needs.

As we celebrate NonStop 50th anniversary we also celebrate how we keep modernizing to keep going with the industry demands. That was the message from Casey Taylor VP and GM of NonStop during her keynote delivered at the TBC conference to participants in Monterey CA last September.

Karen Ramirez HPE NonStop NA sales director also shared with the HPE NonStop customer executives, in Oct 2024 in Houston 2024, “NonStop is a platform that keeps modernizing and we are here to continue supporting you and your business with your mission-critical business needs.”

HPE CEO Antonio Neri always reminds us that “Data is your most important asset” Let’s continue the conversation on how we can take advantage of all these modern tools for NonStop.
