Greetings HPE Community Members!
So as the sunlight starts to get lighter throughout the day in the UK, it makes me feel very happy that we are entering our Spring season. Although we know in the UK, you can encounter Four Seasons in one day! We all have seen some tremendous, interesting weather patterns these last few months – which meant snow in California!
It’s the time of year that starts with celebrations also – International Women’s Day was on the 8th of March, and I hope that you and your companies were able to recognise the important work of many successful Woman past and present. We must not forget, though; everybody is successful for having a great support network around them. Family, friends, colleagues, and mentors all play their crucial role.
I thought I would take my opportunity as your President to reflect on the History of IT and again the many successes that have been achieved over the years.
Did you know that in this month, 1989, the first proposal of the World Wide Web was incepted?
Tim Berners-Lee submits a proposal to CERN for developing a new way of linking and sharing information over the Internet. It was the first time Berners-Lee proposed a system that would ultimately become the World Wide Web. However, this proposal was a relatively vague request to research the details and feasibility of such a system. He would later submit a proposal on November 12, 1990, that much more directly detailed the actual implementation of the World Wide Web.
So, what will the next quarter bring for us?
We continue to support the E-BITUG Committee on their first NonStop Conference since 2019 – it is going to be a great couple of days. We have now secured our Free Social events for Monday, of which I will be hosting one of them, and some amazing entertainment for the Gala dinner – oh, and of course, the great technical content and education you will take back to share with your colleagues. Please, if you haven’t already booked your hotel and event pass – do so now. I can’t wait to meet you all there!
Then we will have HPE Discover to look forward to in June and the lovely sunshine and entertainment factor of Las Vegas! I have to admit that I don’t think I will tire of this place, and I am very excited that my daughter, who has just turned 21, will be able to join me this year – I need to show her a good time!
Edge-to-Cloud is the theme, and HPE continues to help you understand the journey to navigate data-first modernization; HPE GreenLake brings the cloud to you, helping you resolve your data disarray, easing migration headaches & securely connecting your data across the edge to cloud.
