On May 2nd, N2TUG’s members came together for our 2024 meeting.  This year, the larger community of NonStop is celebrating 50 years since Tandem Computers first formed to create the NonStop platform, and we took the opportunity to celebrate!  Our theme was “Golden: 50 Years of NonStop.”

HPE hosted the MATUG meeting on May 14 in their offices in the Reston Town Center, Virginia. The day began and ended with two interesting HPE presentations: John Vollers (Solution Architect) presented HPE Strategy and NonStop Roadmap, and John Zimsky (Master Engineer) presented Deploying REST Applications to NonStop.

The recent MexTUG event was a resounding success, attracting a record number of attendees and surpassing previous years’ achievements as HPE NonStop leaders, experts, and enthusiasts gathered to discuss the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the industry. Engaging keynotes captivated participants fostering invaluable networking opportunities throughout the day.

Several years ago, we first announced the “blazing-fast” technology featured in our solutions, specifically FS Compare and Repair and FS Backup and Restore. In fact, we made our first big announcement at the HPE NonStop Virtual User Group event (VIRTU-NUG) that took place in 2020. FS Compare and Repair offers fast, advanced capabilities to ensure your nodes are kept in sync at all times. The solution employs a market-leading, block-level hashing technology that delivers breakthrough speed and scalability.

Traditionally, NonStop Products on Guardian OS had the best-in-class manageability features, with each product having subsystem plugins for SCF, Measure, etc. ​As NonStop started supporting open-source software, there has been a proliferation of manageability functions and interfaces, as each open-source software comes with its own manageability functions and interfaces. Today there is a bouquet of products offered under NonStop Manageability.

This article provides a brief description of new versions and features released in the Nonstop middleware domain after the L23.08 RVU was made generally available in August 2023. It discusses NSJ 17, NSJSP 10.1, API Gateway 1.4, NSHTTP Server 2.4 Update 4, TS/MP 2.8 Update 6 and the NSDevEnv in Public Cloud

On May 2, 2024, ETI-NET announced the availability of Sentinel Release 1.1. As reported in the press release, with Sentinel 1.1, it extends the leadership position in NonStop Backup Storage Management as these new Sentinel features deliver enhanced NonStop Enterprise System Monitoring.

These applications face greater risk due to coding practices at development time and the absence of modern security features like Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Enhancing these applications with MFA is a necessity to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.

Applications that use relational databases take advantage of the powerful Structured Query Language (SQL) that expresses only what data is required but not how this data needs to be accessed.
