If you attended Nonstop TBC 2026 you may have discovered this elegant, succinct formula about the introduction of the Nonstop platform into the world of AI and that is to be credited to Franz Koenig, HPE Nonstop CTO: “AI for Nonstop, AI with Nonstop and AI on Nonstop”.  I, for one, welcome this concise yet comprehensive definition as it illustrates well the scope of the AI related activities that happen with Nonstop and that were highlighted at TBC 2026. It also provides a much-needed framework for all the future discussions as AI continues to take the world into uncharted territories. At least we have a common language to facilitate exchange of ideas.

And ideas were not lacking at TBC 2026! For some context, if you somehow have not started your journey into AI yet, after ChatGPT in 2023, and agentic AI in 2025, the industry is more than ever looking into how to move this technology into use cases for Enterprise grade applications. But the how, is not immediately obvious as Gartner suggests in their 2026 strategic predictions:

“Executives know AI is disruptive, but the how is opaque”1

Yet standing still and waiting is not in our Nonstop DNA as I have witnessed at TBC. The Nonstop community is once again leading innovation and harnessing the potential of AI technology, should it be to improve customer experience, increase security, expand and even automate knowledge management or modernize Nonstop to keep up with the ever-changing AI ecosystem. Many presentations introduced how Nonstop s/w providers understand and investigate into the potential of GenAI but keeping in mind the fundamentals of Nonstop to protect transactions and preserving its attributes such as being deterministic and explainable. Others covered how we retain Nonstop knowledge when subject matter experts move to other roles. Or how to use Nonstop data with adjacent AI solutions. Some of those solutions are already available to purchase.

Using the newly introduced framework, it becomes easy to categorize all of the presented products to fall into:

AI for Nonstop: Make Nonstop easier to develop, operate, support, and learn

AI with Nonstop: Connect AI securely to Nonstop data, services, and transactions

AI on Nonstop: Run selected mission-critical inference & agent workloads on Nonstop systems

There is really a lot more behind those words developed in the vision that Franz is laying out, and I hope for those who could not attend TBC, that you can get a chance to catch up in future events.

While AI was on everyone’s mind, another highlight common to many presentations is to be aware that Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is not something to delay any further. Many presentations provided good explanations on why we should all start planning to implement PQC today.

And the conversation is never over as you can find more articles in this edition related to AI adoption. Our partners are fast and smart, coming up with great solutions.

Enjoy this new edition!
