Streamers flying in the sea breeze. Crowds of well-wishers lining the docks. Excited passengers crowding the decks hoping to catch glimpses of family members among the crowd of onlookers. There was so much excitement back in the days of the mighty ocean liners, a reminder of the glamor and indeed romance of travel. It may remain in the memories of some members of the NonStop community but for many of us, it’s more like memory flashbacks of begrudgingly fronting up to the check-in desks before security steps in and the mad rush for overhead bins that typically follows.
For many of these same members of the NonStop community, travelling to Dublin, Ireland, will likely be their most recent taste of such glamorous and romantic experiences gained from travelling abroad. Perhaps not and for those who experienced an unpleasant sojourn, our sincerest sympathies. Leaving any place that we call home can often come with regrets no matter how short-lived but when we transition to conference-mode, the camaraderie and indeed fondness of many around us, will elevate the engagements we will surely experience.
This year, we see the HPE NonStop team launch its own Starship product line. A continuation of the current NonStop converged systems product family, bringing with it faster processes together with larger memory options, faster interconnects (including fast Ethernet) and a greater leverage of the CLIM I/O architecture. What this all translates to, for each of us, we will just have to wait and see. What the early NonStop customers experience with Starship will be well worth our time to read about as this latest iteration of NonStop converged systems are sure to have something for everyone. More than likely, it will prove to be a blast, so as to speak!
NTI along with every other NonStop vendor has been preparing for considerable interest coming from NonStop customers. Just from the conversations held late last year and into 2025, it’s become obvious that tech refreshes and even large-scape migrations are bound to happen. Some NonStop customers will simply roll in the new boxes, unplug the old, switch on the new, and just get on with it. Other users will take advantage of the occasion to reconsider their mix of middleware, infrastructure and tools that will drive them forwards, leveraging as they surely will do, the new and modern products they chose to embrace.
It remains hard to ignore the references to space given the program name Starship. Even so, what the HPE NonStop team delivers will be the physical ship and it will be the NonStop vendor community delivering the fuel and mission controls. Destinations will vary even as the launch points but one thing has become very obvious; HPE’s commitment to NonStop remains intact as is continuing to attract development dollars. This is a positive reaffirmation that the NonStop community needs to be supported as the demands on NonStop continue to grow.
“When you look at the old-time photos of ships pulling away from docks with crowds throwing streamers to those about to depart, it really was the last practical demonstration of a type of communication that reinforced the connection that existed,” said Tim Dunne, NTI’s Global Director Worldwide Sales. “The DRNet® product portfolio continues to draw attention to what NTI does best as we complete more Oracle GoldenGate migrations and have real-world Kafka scenarios active among our NonStop customers. Doing what we do best has resulted in DRNet®/Unified for GoldenGate Conversion becoming the preferred solution among ACI BASE24 customers even as DRNet®/Kafka, powered by uLinga, is already making its presence felt across the global NonStop community.”
As 2024 ended, the marketing message NTI was taking into 2025 and yes, beyond, is one of travel. Already being promoted across multiple media channels, the new NTI 2% Club is for those NonStop customers who find their current replication deployments are not satisfying. It is a loyalty program supporting both existing NonStop customers who have deployed DRNet® or are in the process of doing so – yes, with the upcoming events membership is being thrown open to all NonStop community members contemplating NTI’s offerings.
Just as exciting is the news of the arrival of the NTI Quarterly Newsletter that includes the NTI 2% Club advocate – a separate page dedicated to supporting loyal NTI customers. Nothing is being left to chance that might slow the flow of information from NTI that begins with data and ends with data with even more to come in 2025. Through advanced replication, Starship is fueled. Through optimized distribution to open databases and industry-standard process, Starship is guided. And through newfound bidirectional integration, Starship accelerates its path to participating in hybrid IT. Whether your destination is earthbound, or to the moon and planets or to a space station in orbit delivering data around the world, Starship with NTI puts you ahead of the technology curve.
Most important of all, with NTI and the DRNet® product suite, the NonStop community has a NonStop vendor fully engaged in delivering the future to them in time for NonStop to become even more entrenched in hybrid IT even as its presence is celebrated for what it delivers, NonStop. Can’t wait; Won’t wait, NonStop – seems to be equally applicable to the trajectory of NonStop just as it is capable of ensuring no matter where you are coming from, your destination is assured. After all, who wants the distractions of a stopover along the way?
No longer just a case for NTI wishing you bon voyage, but rather today wishing you to get seated, strapped in and enjoying the blast. All the sizzle you are looking for is now with your NonStop vendor, NTI.
